Meet Our Team

Marshall Aanestad, DVM

Dr. Aanestad is a 2nd generation veterinarian (Erik Aanestad, DVM - ISU 1989) and the owner of the Athens Veterinary Clinic. He completed his undergraduate education at Lincoln Memorial University before earning his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. Dr. Aanestad loves working with both large and small animals. He is regularly helping with spay/neuter clinics with the Athens County Humane Society and also does relief work with Diley Hill MedVet. He is currently a member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) and the American Heartworm Society (AHS). He also holds certifications in Low Stress Handling and RECOVER CPR Training.

Katie, RVT

Katie earned her Bachelor’s in Veterinary Medical Technology from Lincoln Memorial University in 2014. Since then, Katie has worked at practices in Montana and Ohio while becoming proficient in small animal dentistry and surgical preparation. Katie’s interests include neonatal care and shelter medicine. Katie has taken several certification courses in Low Stress Handling.

Jan

Jan, Client Service Representative

Jan started with us when we first opened back in 2020. Jan has 2 dogs (Chloe and Nikki) and 1 trouble-making cat (Holly). While mostly on the phones, Jan does occasionally help with surgical procedures and other treatments.

Sybil

Sybil, Client Service Representative

Sybil started with AVC in 2022 and is a regular both on the phones as well as helping see appointments. Sybil has a large furry family at home (4 dogs, 13 cats and 2 rabbits). When not at work, Sybil enjoys binge-watching television with her daughter, Ashlee.

Mary, Veterinary Assistant

Mary started at AVC in 2023. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training in 2009 from University of Southern Maine. She then earned a Master's degree in Athletic Training in 2011 from Ohio University.

Maddie RVT

Maddie, RVT

Maddie started with us in 2024. She earned her degree in Veterinary Medical Technology at Kent State University -Tuscarawas. Maddie enjoys monitoring patients during surgical procedures. She has 3 dogs (Mya, Orion, and Patrick) and 4 cats ( Socks, Cheeto, John, and Cinnamon). Maddie loves listening to live music and thrifting.
