About Athens Veterinary Clinic

The Athens Veterinary Clinic has continued to provide care to both large and small animals for quite some time. Dr. James Bratton and his brother-in-law, Dr. Marvin Phillips, started the “Athens Veterinary Hospital” back in 1952. Dr. Erik Aanestad purchased the practice in 1993 and it has continued to operate as the Athens Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Aanestad passed away in 2015, but his son, Dr. Marshall Aanestad, has since graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and has revived our multi-generation practice.

Our specialty at Athens Veterinary Clinic is our small animal patients. We offer a variety of small animal services such as: spays/neuters, hospitalization, diagnostic laboratory services, full service dentistry, digital radiology, and ultrasound.

While limited on space for large animals, Dr Aanestad offers farm calls to the surrounding area. Large animal services include: vaccinations, Coggins/travel documents, dehorning, hoof trimming, basic dentistry, castrations, sick workup and many others.
